Tolerance
Reduced response to the same dose after repeated use, driven largely by CB1 receptor downregulation.
Tolerance to THC develops relatively quickly with regular use. CB1 receptors downregulate, and the same dose produces less effect.
A period of abstinence allows receptor density to recover. Published dosing guidance also notes that doses above roughly 20 to 30 mg per day may increase adverse events or induce tolerance without improving efficacy.
